Spinning Classes

Learn to Spin
Beginning Spinners

Students will receive basic spinning techniques and instruction on the drop spindle as well as various spinning wheels.  Wheels are provided for use during classes. Students are encouraged to use the wheels for practice during the duration of the class in the store, during normal store hours.

Beginning to Intermediate Spinners

Students are encouraged to bring their own wheels, but are welcome to use in-store floor models. Instruction will cover choosing the right whorl, plying, treadling speeds for what type of yarn, maintenance on your wheel, a many more topics! Students will receive instruction on various single and double treadle spinning wheels.  Wheels are provided for use during classes. Students are encouraged to use the wheels for practice during the duration of the classes in the store, during normal store hours. 

"Spinning 101"

Have you always wanted to learn about spinning wheels and how they work? Have you ever wanted to make your own yarn but don't knitting_hands_web.jpgknow how?  Or have you tried it before and would like a refresher?  If you fit either of these descriptions, then this class is for you! 

In this class you will learn how to make yarn for knitting, weaving or crocheting.  We will cover the parts of the wheel, how the wheel works, tools and equipment, carding, preparation of a fleece, drafting, over the fold, short forward draw, and plying.

If you need to rent a wheel, we have a couple. Sign-up early to secure one for class.

Knitting Classes

“Learn to KNIT” (new KNITTERS)

 Students will receive instruction on the knitting basics: Cast on, cast off, knitting, purling, increase and decrease. Each student can choose from a variety of beginning projects and yarn: a washcloth, scarf, or fingerless mitts.

“SOCKS”  (beginning KNITTERS)

 Students will receive basic sock knitting techniques on double pointed needles.

"Cable Vest "  (beginning KNITTERS)

 Students will make a cable vest, learning cables and traditional Aran knitting stitches.

 

 6 count Shawl learn & knit-a-long

Students will receive instruction on the knitting lace basics while working on a simple lace shawl.
