Here We Go.....Again
I'm not living the summer I had planned for, last winter. So far my summer has been a song lyric. "If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plan."
This was to be the summer of the empty nest. Elaine and I planned to take an extended road trip working vacation that would coincide with my August birthday for starters. (Well, Elaine planned and I made comments like, "OK, that will be nice" and "That will be fun for you.")
Along with our road trip/vacation, this is the summer of our (Elaine's and mine) fiftieth high-school class reunion. I'm not sure how I feel about the reunion. First, it is scheduled on my birthday and I had other plans. Secondly, the people I would visit with I visit with anyway. However, you only have one 50th-class reunion, so it needs to have serious consideration. I might find out a few of my classmates read Monner's Mumblings.
I planned on expanding the yak herd this summer. After waffling back and forth for several months I did expand the herd.
Elaine and I talked frequently about having a yard/storage container sale of yarn from Your Daily Fiber. We might get to that this fall.
Three summers ago, I had my summer shortened by injuring my back. I couldn't walk without a walker or crutches. I couldn't carry or lift anything. The confusing part of the injury was I had never had any problems with my back.
Summer is about half over. I will need to change the summer's plans. I can't walk. I need surgery again. With waiting for insurance approval, doctor's scheduling, and recovery, the road trip/vacation is out for the summer. Attending the reunion is possible but has lost its luster. The yard sale is out for now.
I'm not sure what the rest of the summer will bring, but I'm hoping for painkillers.
God bless, Love ya, buy yarn, I need new crutches.
Our crazy lives!
