I’m wishing everyone a thoughtful and happy Memorial Day, Here in Northern Colorado there will not be many picnics to celebrate the unofficial start of summer. It is chilly, rainy, foggy and yucky.
Memorial Day was intended to thank the men and women who gave up everything to protect your rights as an American. Take some time to do that.
A lot of hot dogs will be eaten this weekend. Personally, I don’t eat hotdogs. A few years back, I was watching a show called, “How it’s Made” with my daughter. A fifteen-minute segment of the show resulted in me never eating hot dogs again. I know they are delicious, but did you know, that at some point in the making of a hotdog the meat is liquefied. Yep, liquid meat. Giant vats of liquid meat being turned and mixed to its proper consistency. Did you hear that, proper consistency. Forget the fact that the meat used is the meat that would be discarded if it could not be liquified. Enjoy your hot dog.
We had a small adventure this past week. Like most of my adventures, it resulted in bandages on my hand. Only three bandages, but bandages, nonetheless.
I didn’t expect to bleed, as a matter of fact, I didn’t expect taking the dogs to the dog barber to be an adventure. What could go wrong. Put the dogs in the backseat, drive to the dog barber. Gorden, white face, loves car rides. He has never seen an open car door that he won’t jump in, Goose, black face, is a little hesitant to get in the car.
No problem, we got both dogs in the backseat and were on our way. I can’t say for sure goose’s motivation but shortly into the drive he decided the front seat would have a better view. That would have been okay, but he decided he wanted the driver’s seat. I didn’t feel like sharing.
Reluctantly, he got back where he belonged and stayed there until we passed the first semi-truck. I’m traveling at highway speed and Goose decided to drive again. This time he’s serious about it.
After a short wrestling match I was able to get the car to the side of the road and wrestle Goose into submission. I think this is where the bandages come into play. We arrived at the barber, finally, excited to be there. I was bleeding and the dogs acted like they were at Disneyland. Here comes the worst part. Two dog haircuts, vaccinations, three bandages, $532.00. I thought women’s haircuts were expensive.
God Bless, Love ya, put Goose in a crate
Our crazy lives!
