Pumpkin Spice Cake

I know some of you were expecting a story yesterday and I was expecting to write one, but truth is, I was living one.

Today is the twenty-fourth birthday of my second batch of kids. Normally we (Elaine and I) make it a priority to celebrate birthdays with the batches. As time has went on it has been increasingly more difficult to celebrate birthdays on actual birthdays.

Knowing the twins (Girl and Boy) birthday was coming, I started planning for the possiblity of some type of celebration. I spoke with Girl Twin as to what she was expecting. She was my first contact on the list due to the fact she was the oldest. Even though they are twins, Girl Twin is about two minutes older than Boy Twin.

Not to mention it is near to impossible to reach Boy Twin. While Boy Twin is on the oil rig in Wyoming, reaching him has its own challenges, but the truth is he is just as hard to reach even when he is not in Wyoming. He has a phone, but it is mostly to watch videos on.

Anyway, Girl Twin is usually the organizer of their celebrations. Girl Twin informed me she had plans to spend their birthday with friends. If we were to celebrate, it wouldn’t be on their actual birthday. Boy Twin who had no opinion of his own, said he would do whatever Girl Twin wanted to do.

Knowing it would interfere with writing Monner’s Mumblings, it was decided Sunday would be a day of celebration. I decided to prepare a “special” meal at our home. I invited all the kids to the house, both batches.

Preperation for the day took a little longer than I expected. If I need to apologize, this is it. But in fairness, I baked a cake, me Monner baked a cake. I have never done anything like that, and probably won’t again.

BoyTwin, took home leftovers including half the cake.

I need to get back to writing Sundays, this just didn’t feel right.
