It was a quiet week at "Dream Believers Ranch". "Dream Believers Ranch" is what Elaine named our property a couple of decades ago. Maybe it was me, who can remember that far back. "Dream Believers Ranch" is written above the entrance to our driveway from the road.
The point of naming the property, was Elaine and I had dreams about what we were going to do with our "new" home. Some of the dreams we accomplished before we moved into the house. Like residing the exterior of the house, replacing all of the windows. Paint here and there, remove the carpet, replace the flooring.
Elaine is dreaming a big dream again. Ok, I have the same dream and maybe one more. She/we wants a new floor for the main floor of the house. We've actually taken it past the dream stage. We've ordered the with the intent to have a relative furnish the labor. Didn't happen. The material supplier offered zero percent interest for twenty-four months. I don't mind using the material supplier's money for a couple of years to get the work done.
It should have been that simple and it should have been done late summer/ early fall. The relative lost interest. We found another installer. Elaine and I physically replaced the floor ourselves, years ago, but that was before a couple of back surgeries.
A store clerk from the material supplier "helped" Elaine fill out the application for the zero percent interest by submitting some wrong credit information (SS#). Needless to say, the zero percent offer was rejected. In what should have been a simple resubmit, has turned into a big hurry up and wait. Elaine wants her new floor. She dreams about it. I dream about zero percent interest. I want a new floor also, but my dream is more of a nightmare. At least twice a week Elaine asks if I have called the bank. The bank is in Pennsylvania.
That's the problem. The floor is in Colorado, the bank is in Pennsylvania, and my wallet is in my pocket. Something has to give. Elaine wants to turn the floor dream into reality. We should have had our new floor a couple of months ago.
God Bless, Love ya, Dream
