Labor Day

Labor Day is not my favorite day. Labor Day 2026 is bittersweet but mostly bitter.
Labor Day signals the end of summer, usually with some celebration. We (Elaine, both batches of kids, and myself) aren’t celebrating together. One kid is spending their Labor Day on an oil driIling rig in central Wyoming. One kid is spending the day laboring in a restaurant in Northern Colorado. One kid is spending the day with friends at something called PIlates and then spending the day catching up on homework.
It hasn’t been the best of summers anyway, so it might has well just go away. I spent more time in grocery stores, and big box hardware stores than anything else. Who knew those places were entertaining. Oh, I did get to go to the doctor when I was looking for any else to do.
That said, Labor Day is here. Good or bad, it’s here.
Summer is gone but there is another one coming, you might need to wait a bit.
