Indecision

I don't go to many movies, but that doesn't mean I haven't learned from movies I've seen. John Wayne spoke a line in the movie, Big Jake that has stayed with me since I saw the movie. I'm paraphrasing, "There are two reasons to kill, survival and meat".

It was a few years ago my grandson and a friend were target shooting on our property Yes, they were target shooting with "real" guns. The target shooting evolved into the shooting of two unfortunate rabbits. When the teenagers informed me what they had done, I went into John Wayne mode and informed them they were going to eat the rabbits. They ate the rabbits, which satisfied both John Wayne and me.

Chapter 2

For about the last month, we have had two rabbits that show up just before dusk in our driveway. The dogs notice the rabbits and start a nightly bark fest. I have debated on whether I should just open the door and let the dogs chase them off the property. However, I don't know how far the dogs would chase the rabbits and I have no desire to look for the dogs in the dark. Elaine and I close the blinds hoping the dogs can't see the rabbits. It doesn't really work but it gets dark, and the dogs eventually quit barking.

Chapter 3

A couple of weeks ago Elaine and I replaced half of the windows in our house. Well, we didn't actually replace them, we just paid to have them replaced. How does this tie into rabbits, dogs, and teenagers, and John Wayne? Gordon, (white faced dog) jumped through the screen of a window, (I repaired it.) trying to get to the rabbits.

I could very easily put an end to this insanity, but I have a problem. I am not a hunter. As long as Krogers' has meat, and I have money, I will not kill for meat. My family's survival would be another story.

I'm hoping one of the hawks that live in the neighborhood carries the rabbits away. I might be forced to take some action the John Wayne wouldn't approve of.

God Bless, Love ya, movies don't always help

Our crazy lives!
