It's Back

I know people get excited when it makes its return every late summer/early fall. Elaine is one of those people. Me, not so much. I'm more in the dread category. You guessed it I'm talking about professional football. Oh, I have a small interest in the games, who wins and who loses, but most of the football at our house brings up questions like "last year that player had yellow shoes, this year his shoes are lime green. I wonder why." How do you answer that?

Have you ever wondered if it is legal to tackle someone by grabbing their hair? I've never wondered that until I started watching football with my wife. "I wonder why they don't cut their hair, I would." These are the conversations that take place while we watch the games. It's not all bad, I have found that I can nap during most of the games while Elaine is concerning herself with the color of shoes.

It is not just football; Elaine loves boxing also. Years ago, Elaine and I watched all the major fights with her dad. I thought that she just enjoyed being with her dad, but it turns out she really loved boxing.

Elaine and I watched a major boxing match Saturday night. Just like football, there was plenty of conversation. I found out Elaine doesn't like boxers with yellow trunks. I'm not sure why, but she doesn't like them. Hair is a big deal in boxing like it is in football. Boxers should have short hair, so when they are hit in the head short hair doesn't shake making the punch look harder.

I'm going to take a nap during football this afternoon. I was up last night until one o'clock wondering about yellow trunks and why Elaine has no opinion on the color of the boxer's shoes.
