One would think if they had forty-eight chances to remember it would become pretty easy to remember an event. I guess its not that easy.
Forty-eight years ago today, on a hot Friday night Elaine and I were married. I know that it happened that way, I just have trouble remembering things like the date. Lucky for me Elaine shares the same problem.
Elaine spoke with her sister yesterday, and then shared part of her conversation with me.
Elaine: Do you know what tomorrow is?
Me: Wednesday?
Elaine: It's our anniversary
Me: Oh, did you remember it? (I started to panic)
Elaine: No, my sister wished us Happy Anniversary
Me: Wow, I wonder how she remembered (Relieved, I realized Elaine had not bought or planned anything)
Elaine: Since we are fixing up the house (new window, doors, flooring) let's just go to dinner
Me: (large exhale) That sounds great
A couple of hours later things didn't seem right. I know that a fiftieth anniversary is gold, but I was quite sure that the forty-eighth is not new flooring.
Me: Hey, let's go to dinner, but let's plant a new tree in our yard.
Elaine: I love that idea
I felt like I dodged a bullet, at least until next year.
God Bless, Love ya
Our crazy lives!
