Graduation
The dogs are back from camp/college, it seems like they were gone a long time, but it was only one extra day.
Both dogs graduated, with Goose (black face) graduating Summa cum laude. This didn’t surprise us as he always seemed a little on the bright side. Gordon (white face) on the other hand appears he had help with his homework.
Camp/college was scheduled for two weeks, a snowstorm extended camp at the request of the college Dean. He asked us not to pick them up during the storm. Elaine desperately wanted them home, but I convinced her to let them stay another day (at no additional charge).
Once at home it was apparent that Goose had benefitted from his education more than Gordon. Both dogs seemed quiet, almost shy when they arrived home. They were showing very few of the negative traits that sent them to college that our twins’ thought were so funny.
This would be a good time to remind you it had recently snowed. Elaine and I noticed the dogs enjoyed playing in the snow, even eating it. Elaine and I were watching the dogs play when Gordon turned, ran towards the fence and cleared the fence with a half-hearted jump. He was gone. SNOW! There was no way either one of these elderly people were going to chase down that dog.
I decided to chase him with the car. Gordon got a pretty good head start, but it didn’t take long to locate him and “try” to coax him into the car. I opened the car door and watched him start running down the road. Not towards home.
I drove down the road with Gordon running circles around the car. We were getting farther and farther from home. No verbal command would get him to stop running.
Finally, after forty-five minutes and a bunch of “construction language” on my part, Gordon stopped o smell a bush. With all the speed I could muster I jumped out of the car and grabbed Gordon by his collar. I used more “construction language.” He didn’t care, even when I told him another thirty seconds and he could just keep running.
The college Dean agreed Gordon might need another lesson or two. The Dean will come to our house for the lessons. Fence jumping will not be part of the curriculum.
Boy Twin will be here this afternoon to help me raise the fence again. Then the dogs and I will take a nap.
I’m a little late with the story today. Big time computer problems. Sorry.
God Bless, Love ya,
Our crazy lives!
