Its Over

A few weeks ago I knew I needed to make a life altering change. My life had become to hard. Although I caused my problem myself, I didn’t expect my problem to be a problem. I thought I was goiing to buy a few yaks and live happily ever after. It didn’t work that way.

The yaks were a problem from the very first day I brought them home. The baby yak could and did fit between the barb-wire of my fences. At first it was kind of cute. She would slide between the wire and eat whatever and wherever she wanted but and it is/was a very big but, she would never be far from her mother and would always return to the right side of the fence.

As many of you know, the baby provide a few cute stories about her escapes and interactions with the neighbors. I didn’t take her escapes too seriously because I knew the time would come she would not fit between the wires. That time has come.

Recently, I received a phone call from a neighbor informing me the yaks were out of the pasture. I assumed the baby yak had found a spot in the fence she could fit through the fence. That assumption turned out to be incorrect.

First, all of the yaks were out of the pasture, leading me to believe somewhere there was a big hole in the fence. I was looking for that hole in the fence when I was stopped by a neighbor.

Neighbor: Stop looking, there is no hole, the yaks are JUMPING over the fence.

Me; I hope you’re kidding

Neighbor: I’ve seen them jump

I watched the yaks and sure enough, all three yaks were jumping the fence. After the next several mornings of chasing the yaks, sometimes with a neighbor or two helping, I made the decision, the yaks had to be sold.

Yesterday, was the day the yaks were going to the auction house. I invited a friend to help load the yaks onto the trailer, The yaks didn’t want to leave, they wanted to stay. I insisted. The yaks became angry, scared and VIOLENT.

My friend had brought along his dog, which was having a great time agitating the yaks. We were unsuccessful loading the yaks and my friend eventually went home.

I needed to get the yaks to the auction house, so I decided to give it one last try, I asked a neighbor to help me.

The neighbor and I successfully loaded the yaks. If we had closed the gate on the trailer, the story would be over. Sadly that is not the case. The yaks escaped. This started a two hour chase. Two other neighbors on UTV’s joined the chase. Next came the cowboy on a horse. We finally returned the yaks to the corral and they simply jumped in the tailer.

I am out of the yak business! That said tomorrow is another day. I’m already working on a new plan.

God Bless, Love ya, eat yaks, don’t buy them

Our crazy lives!
