Knowledge and Wisdom
Some people say great wisdom comes with age. I like that includes me, but I’m not sure. I had a birthday last August and I don’t think I’m any smarter. I think I’ve made mistakes I could have avoided.
The Merriam-Webster dictionary explains wisdom as “Good sense, judgement; knowledge”.
This story is about some knowledge that I had and didn’t use.
This past spring Elaine “rescued” two puppies from a breeder in another city. First, I would like to say the term “rescued” is not what happened at all. We BOUGHT the (construction language) puppies. Most likely this is knowledge you have because I have written about this before.
The story begins when Elaine and I met the breeder to pick up the puppies.
Breeder: Sorry, I’m late. I needed to clean my car seats, one of the puppies puked on the ride here.
Elaine: Oh, they are so cute. What do we feed them?
Breeder: I’ve been feeding a high dollar premium food that can be obtained at Wally world.
I heard the high dollar part.
Breeder: They come from a litter of nine puppies. Dad is a standard poodle. Mom is an Australian Shepard. The puppies are energetic will want to play and run. Their dad is a jumper.
Elaine: This is going to be great. I will get exercise also taking them for walks.
I listened and heard every word said.
From the time we moved to our forty-acre property we have always had dogs. Shortly after moving here, I fenced a small area to keep the dogs contained. I did this because of wisdom and knowledge. It took only one snowy day to convince me we needed a fenced area. The twins, Ivy, and myself chased two Great Pyrenees about two miles in the snow after they decided to explore the neighborhood. Well, I didn’t chase them that far, but Boy Twin did He refused to give up. I went back for the car.
The fence I built was actually quite nice. Except for destroying the neighbors post hole digger on his tractor hitting underground rocks, it was fun to build. I was happy and I think the dogs (all of them) were happy with the fence.
When the last Pyrenees passed, I had intended on taking the fence down. But Elaine had other ideas She wanted another dog. I already had a fence. So, let’s get more dogs.
Last week the puppies were playing inside the fenced area. Goose (black faced) started barking. Gordon (white faced) was quiet. There was a reason for that. Gordon was gone. The puppies noticed a herd of deer (about 20 of them) trespassing on our property. The Gordon went over the fence and began the chase.
I immediately thought of the conversation with the breeder. “Their dad’s a jumper”. I had the knowledge which should have given me the wisdom. I have had plenty of time to raise the fence.
Raising the fence without bending, lifting, or twisting is not going to be easy. Not to mention, Elaine is watching me.
Boy Twin come home. Deer, stay away. Gordon, get back here. When you have the knowledge and wisdom, use them.
God Bless, Love ya, Things are going to be OK, Make the fence taller MTFT
Our crazy lives!

While a rich source of powers that shape our lives, knowledge and wisdom are fundamentally different. Knowledge is "the accumulation of facts, data, and information," much like the work done during the journey towards seeking Statistics Dissertation Help to understand complex concepts and methodologies. Wisdom is the ability to use this knowledge in insight with understanding and compassion. Knowledge enables me to keep track of the numbers and draw conclusions. Wisdom teaches me the right decisions by being ethical, through understanding, and so on.
