Who Says?

If you've known me a while, you might have noticed I'm a bit of a Renegade. I can't say why I didn't conform to the rules parents laid out for my brothers and me. If rules didn't make sense, they didn't make sense. (Brother Larry might have renegaded me.) I have feelings about rules are made to be broken.
Maybe that's why I would have been a lousy participant in the military, although I have regrets about not serving. Who knows? Maybe a couple of trips to the brig would have change my thoughts about rules.
I'm about to break a rule that I have held my entire life. This rule I have held since I was a child, and my parents before me. Equally as weird, the reason I will break this rule is not of my doing. It is the fault of both batches of my children. Having said that, I will break the rule.
The rule? Thanksgiving Day is celebrated on Thursday. We will get together as a family on Friday. Between batches of children, their significant others, work and school schedules, (tests) the window to celebrate Thanksgiving, got smaller and smaller.
With significant others driving the timeline, our dinner time was getting pushed back into early or possibly late evening. One couple was having a late afternoon meal with their family before coming to our meal. One couple attending a family celebration southwest of the state capital before coming to our "celebration". I highlighted the word celebration because it was starting to not sound like a celebration at all.
Why my/our children decided to attend alternate celebrations first is a mystery. They know that my mother's family recipes cannot be duplicated especially when prepare by me, Monner.
That said, it came to me in a dream. Celebrate on Friday. Don't share the day with anyone. I like breaking rules. Who says Thanksgiving is celebrated on Thursday. Friday will work just fine. Elaine and I will extend our Thanksgiving together. Who needs those kids? OK, me! Plus, I get to break a rule.
God Bless, Love Ya, enjoy whatever day
Our crazy lives!
Monner
